Managed by BPR Properties, Cabana Crowne Plaza is full-service and historic 195-room hotel located in Palo Alto surrounded by the vibrant energy of Silicon Valley. The Crown Plaza Palo Alto prides itself in bringing employees into the welcome ambiance of a completely renovated and upscale tech savvy hotel. The Cabana also features 4290 Bistro & Bar- a delicious restaurant offering contemporary American cuisines, and is centrally located to most major high-tech campuses in the Silicon Valley.   The hotel is spread out over acres of landscaped gardens and courtyard areas.

The Director of Business Travel Sales is a business travel/leisure travel sales person who has demonstrated through performance a thorough understanding and competence in sales, account management functions and the hotel/business travel industry. Responsibilities include selling guest rooms and Crowne Plaza services to transient market customers through corporate accounts, travel agencies, individual travel and wholesale groups. Duties include managing current accounts; ensure proper solicitation of all transient markets, and regular travel to major cities that support the market. Duties also include preparing and presenting effective proposals, presentations, maintaining well organized documentation and reports, utilization of IHG technology systems and coordination of customer service requirements with hotel operations staff as appropriate. The Director of Business Travel Sales, will also participate and may lead event meetings, sales and other staff meetings. The Director of Business Travel Sales also works as a team member with the sales and catering staff and with assigned Administrative Assistant and other support staff. 

Additional responsibilities include oversight and direct input into the social media, GDS, property and brand website content and marketing campaigns and strategies as they relate to supporting the transient market, and overall revenue goals of the hotel.

 

The Key Responsibilities:

  • A minimum of 3 years of hotel sales preferred.
  • Must be proficient in general computer knowledge, Hotelligence 360, RFP Express, Lanyon, and Delphi.
  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment.
  • Prefer selling, negotiating, business writing and presentation skills training.
  • Community involvement and/or professional association is highly regarded.
  • Identification and development of business travel volume accounts and individual travel tour operator accounts.
  • Responsible for site inspections, client entertainment & sales travel.
  • Reporting on account production, key tentative/prospect account status, and keep management abreast of future booking opportunities affecting the hotel.
  • Managing assigned segment, and providing feedback on booking trends and any additional duties & responsibilities as assigned.
  • Prepare information for, meet with and entertain clients as deemed appropriate by potential business from that account.
  • Refined verbal and written communications skills to provide clear direction to all departments in the hotel to ensure high quality of service to customers.
  • Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance.
  • Participate in daily business review meeting, training and other sales-related meetings as required.
  • Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings.
  • Advanced knowledge of market trends, competition and key customers of the hotel.
  • Perform other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned.

 

The Model Qualifications: 

  • +3 year previous Hotel Business Travel Sales experience (local experience preferred).
  • Delphi and Opera experience a plus.
  • College degree preferred, but not required with relevant work experience.
